In the villages of Uttarakhand, Bhimal (Boehmeria rugulosa) has been woven into daily life for generations. Its strong natural fibers were used to make ropes, baskets, and household items—symbols of resilience and practicality in the Himalayan way of life.
We saw an opportunity to revive this tradition in a way that honors its roots and gives it a new purpose. Our Bhimal Rakhis are handcrafted using these sturdy fibers, skillfully twisted into threads that carry the strength of the mountains. Each Rakhi holds a seed at its center—a small promise that after Raksha Bandhan, it can be planted to grow into a living memory.
This Rakhi is more than a thread; it is a story of belonging to the land, of celebrating the cycle of life, and of planting hope for the future.
